IBU Partners with Sportradar to Safeguard Biathlon Integrity

The World Biathlon Federation (IBU), the governing authority for the sport of biathlon, has teamed up with Sportradar to oversee wagering actions at its competitions. This initiative is a component of the IBU’s continuous dedication to preserving the sport’s ethical standards.

Through this multi-year arrangement, Sportradar will utilize its advanced Fraud Detection System (UFDS) to closely monitor all IBU tournaments, encompassing significant events such as the World Championships and World Cups. Any unusual betting trends will be identified and relayed to the IBU’s Integrity Unit for further scrutiny.

This collaboration expands upon an existing partnership between the IBU and Sportradar, initiated in 2020. Sportradar has been furnishing the IBU with valuable insights, due diligence assessments, and investigative assistance through its worldwide network of specialists.

Greg McKenna, director of the Biathlon Integrity Unit, stressed the significance of this joint effort, stating that it showcases the IBU’s commitment to maintaining the highest levels of integrity within biathlon.

Andreas Krannich, Managing Director of Sportradar Integrity Services, emphasized the increasing global fascination with betting on biathlon, making this partnership even more crucial in shielding the sport from potential exploitation.

The global governing body for biathlon must enhance its efforts and take a strong stance against dishonesty. They are joining forces with Sportradar, an organization already collaborating with Betway, a prominent entity in the sports wagering industry. This partnership seeks to leverage Sportradar’s technological capabilities to ensure integrity within the realm of biathlon.
