Bet365 and Play’n Go have both been granted permits in Greece.
Bet365 and Play’n Go are the initial firms to secure licenses from the Hellenic Gaming Commission (EEEP) under the revised Greek regulations. Bet365 is now authorized to operate in Greece, joining Betsson. Play’n Go is the first company to obtain a license to offer games under the new rules.
The new regulations are stringent. Online slots have a €2 per spin limit, a minimum spin duration of 3 seconds, and a maximum win per round of €70,000. Companies that operate in Greece are required to pay a 35% tax on their revenue.
Magnus Olsson, representing Play’n Go, stated that they welcome the new regulations and will collaborate with their partners to ensure compliance with the new rules.
Olson stated that he believes vendors having the capability to adjust games to local legal rules will assist them in distinguishing themselves within the industry.
“We take great pride in our games,” he expressed. “However, we also aim to provide more value.”
“Our meticulous approach to compliance and game creation guarantees our collaborators can depend on us to deliver entertainment content that can be appreciated by all participants in numerous markets from the initial day of global distribution.
“However, to truly savor the gaming experience, players must feel secure. That’s why we are pleased to modify our games to ensure they adhere to all local regulations in controlled markets worldwide.”
The Greek licensing system commenced last October, following the passage of a gambling reform bill by the country’s legislature in 2019.
